The tone of Star Wars Outlaws is jarring

I've picked up Star Wars Outlaws for cheap, and honestly, it's fun. Not a bad game. One of the issues I've noticed is the main character, Kay Vess. She's not a bad character, but the contrast between her and the other characters and surroundings is amazing. She's being chased by bounty hunters, constantly engaging with the underworld and the worst of the worst. She has a huge bounty on her head. Yet, everything seems like a joke to her. She's cracking jokes at every point, no matter who she is talking to, no matter the situation. Everyone else is absolutely serious for the most part, except her. Again, she's not unlikeable, but during multiple points of the story, it just doesn't make sense.
