By skyforbes Im looking for a game where you build a team of customised characters and take them on missions across a campaign, leveling, equipping and upgrading them along the way.
It also needs to be a game which works well on steamdeck.

Edit: Thanks everyone! Ive already played all the Xcoms, Phoenix point, Midnight suns etc. its really the personalisation of the team which im looking for.
Some games which have stood out from the comments are W40K:Mechanicus, Trouble Shooter, Showgunners, Battlebrothers, Shadowrun, CyberKnights and maybe even something like Darkest Dungeon 2.
Ill look into each of these but keep the recommendations coming please.
