Why does the CGI in “Pirates of the Caribbean” (2006) look better than most Marvel movies released in 2024?

I re-watched "Dead Man's Chest" yesterday. Davy Jones still looks absolutely photo-realistic. The wetness of his skin, the lighting… it's perfect.

Compare that to the recent superhero movies where everyone looks like a floating head on a green screen body.

Is the technology getting worse, or are studios just rushing the VFX artists to death? It feels like we are going backwards visually.
