I think it might have been an American film from the mid-80s in the vein of the Goonies, but more adult, darker, and more sci-fi.
I remember a group of kids (teens, and maybe some younger ones) wandering in a flat countryside setting, at dusk, or maybe at dawn (after a party?), and finding a HUGE birthday cake sitting in some vegetable patch. At least some of them enter it and explore it (it has tunnels). On the outside it was candy-coloured and fluffy, but on the inside it was almost like an ordinary cave, and it felt like a trap.
[I remember one more scene, but I won't spoil it (I'm newish to Reddit and haven't managed to use the blank so far; sorry]
I only remember these 2 short scenes, the palette,/photography (80s, atmospheric, warm), and the general feel of the film (inventive, relaxed, eerie), but I guess I was too young or too asleep to see or remember more, so I have never been able to retrieve it, and then I kind of forgot about it.
Has anyone any idea of what it might have been?
