after playing silksong, i am never buying a game blind again

I usually wait years until i buy a game like 3-5 years because by that time games usually have been rebalanced, fixed, had their DLCs released, and the general nature of the game has already gotten dissected

I do play certian game types blind from types from time to time. Like Metroidvanias because their magic lays in exploration without guides.

This why i played Hollow Knight (the first Team Cherry metroidvania game) blind. I spent 5 days offline just playing the game without using guides or anything, and i pretty much discovred 90% of the game this way. It was one of the best experinces of my life.

Years later the sequel Silksong gets released, and i intended to play it the same way i played Hollow Knight, completely blind. I gave the game 3 months for the devs to smooth out any imprefections and then i started.

At first it was actually fun, but about 5 hours in i started feeling that the devs took Silksong in a newer direction from Hollow Knight. I noticed that they significantly cut back on exploration and map design while significantly raised up the difficulty and padded out room fights and bosses.

Despite that i told myself this is how these game are like, they eventually open up and you get upgrades as long as i explore. However. Half way through the game i was fed up because the padding continued, the exploration didn't really open up much, and i found myself thinking

"Silksong is a very different game direction from Hollow Knight"

In a way i felt betrayed. I purposfully put my faith in the devs because that's what i did with the first game when i played it blind, and i expected Silksong to improve on the first game's formula. However, in Silksong, i felt like the devs were trolling me through out the game, and it felt like they took out many good things that used to be present in the first game or made certian things more tedious and fruatrating.

So here i am half way through my playthrough, frustrated and not having fun, finally deciding to look up what other people are saying about the game. Because i thought to myself, "i can't be the only one that finds this game not fun". And i was right, there are many complaints of people dissapointed with how the game was designed, however, i also found that the toxic Dark Souls/Elden Ring mentality have taken root in the overall disscussion and essentially bullied any form of constructive critisisim of the game out of all forums i have seen.

When i looked up what the devs said about people who were feeling frustrated with the game i essentially found them saying "deal with it" which further dissapointed me

It was all a glazefest, and the devs are millionares by this point so it doesn't matter if 10% of the community were feeling dissapointed after giving them money.

This game was a lesson to me to never go into a sequel blind even if the first game was good when i played it blind.

I wish i checked the general discussion of the game before i played it. It would have saved me from hours of frustration by knowing that the sequel was not the same as the first game.

Edit:
1- i am not replaying to any comment that see this post as a critisim of the game.

2- this post is meant to show that Team Cherry betrayed my expectations as a player of the first game that intended to play the sequel blind.

Tl:dr I just wanted to write my feelings as someone who played HK blind then tried to play Silksong blind and got dissapointed
