By skyforbes I mean we follow Larry throughout most of the movie, he has wayyy more screen time than the 2nd male lead Luke. Also it's 67 years Joan and Larry have children and grandchildren together.. she's gonna wanna talk & reminisce about them.

The red herring though was utterly horrible, you mean to tell me in the 67 years of Larry and Joan that she NEVER experienced a happier moment then when she was with her ex husband.
