Windows File Explorer still limits FAT32 formatting to 32 GB – time to fix this

I would like to draw attention to a long-standing and unnecessary limitation in Windows Explorer. Currently, the graphical interface does not allow formatting FAT32 volumes larger than 32 GB.

According to the FAT32 specification, volumes can support up to 2 TB, and individual files up to 4 GB.

This limitation is artificial, outdated, and does not affect system stability. It primarily affects users who need FAT32 for compatibility with cameras, game consoles, embedded devices, etc.

A ticket has been created in the Feedback Hub requesting that this limitation be removed:

If this issue affects you, please vote for the request or add your voice. A strong and clear signal from users can help Microsoft prioritize this Explorer interface update.

Thank you for your support.
