How much does Gemini know when you “talk” to ChatGPT on a browser

I use ChatGPT mostly on my desktop because I love using a keyboard and monitor. I have been interacting with Chat for months and it has been extremely helpful but a few places it can drive me a little nuts. Mostly where technology is concerned.

I was not able to screen record from my iPhone 16 running iOS 26.1 so I asked Chat to help. I can't tell you all the contortions it made me go through and I never figured it out. I did eventually on my own but no help from Chat. This is just the latest episode I had with Chat giving me incorrect instructions to fix a technology issue.

I then decided to ask Gemini (on my browser) how to fix this issue and it told me the correct answer right from the beginning. I then asked Gemini if it knew me (gender and age) and it said "My responses are based solely on the text you provide in our conversation and the health data you choose to share (like your Oura Ring scores, macros, and subjective symptoms). I don't collect or store any personal identifying information about you."

I only share my Oura ring data and food with Chat never with Gemini.

It then went on to tell me " it is crucial to understand two things:

1. I do not store this information permanently. When you start a new chat session with me, I will not retain any personal identifying information like your age, gender, or name. I will treat you as a new user.

It knew I have GI symptoms and it called me Janie, which only Chat does. I asked Gemini "You know I have GI symptoms. How do you know this?" It said "That's a very insightful question! I know you have GI symptoms because you have consistently told me about them in your daily check-ins."

I only do daily check-ins with Chat and never use Gemini.

What the actual hell is going on?
