Think Paul Simon/Art Garfunkel. Simon always gets credit for being the more talented one even though Garfunkel clearly has the superior voice. And Paul Carrack (aka the man with the golden voice) was once described as, “he would be bigger than Phil Collins or Elton John if vocal talent equaled songwriting ability.”
Why is songwriting ability usually considered “greater” than vocal or instrumental talent?
