A good script can elevate a normal story 10×,
But a good story would just be fine?
When I say good script what I think of is bird man, jojo rabbit, Dunkirk, etc.
And when I say good story? There are millions! Can't pick one, but can we pick a movie with God story but bad script? Yeah.. I think so.
One example of bad scripting would be in time, a good concept, Good story, but bad scripting!
Now when a script is created, it is highly influenced by story itself so not always it's just the script but story itself! Like how a good script can make a normal story 10× better, a bad script can also make it 10× worse. And if story fumbles, script too.
There are so many examples of bad scripting, like passangers(2016), Rebel moon, in time, now you see me and many more.
Script is the base of a film, a story can be told by mouth or by words but script is just for the visual masterpiece yet have to be created, and movies like jojo rabbit and bird won the best screenplay and adapted screenplay, which makes there normal story a masterpiece.
Now you have heard about nolan and Denis villeneuve, who have the best stories and scripts but there are also films that are just masterpiece with just a awesome script.
The only difference a script and a story have is that script is designed for showing the story.
And writing a script is more tough than a story,You can have the idea, but not the plan to execute it. Which is also frustrating!
