They are both constroverial films but what bothers me about them is that both directors died in the same year there movies were realesaed. Not only that but the directer of eyes wide shut died 6 days after the release of his movie and the directer of 120 days of sodom died in a brutal abduction in wich he was tortured. In addition they both share basic structure, themes and strategies: Dreamlike narrative, erotic fantasy, the use of sex to expose the power imbalances, Capitalist consumerism, prostitution, sexual and spiritual objectification, sadomasochism… Probably has no significance but I think this is and interesting coincidence.
