Is Hollywood becoming worse? Or are we simply growing older?

I've been thinking about this lately: a lot of people claim that movies these days don't feel as unique because they have too much CGI, too many sequels, remakes, reboots, "shared universes," safe storytelling, etc.

I'm not sure, though, if Hollywood is truly worse.
or if we simply long for the experience of discovering new films as children.

I'd like to know what you think: Is nostalgia deceiving us, or are contemporary films actually in decline?
And which recent movie convinced you that Hollywood is still capable of producing excellent work?
