- Jody was 20 years old in the movie. Yvette was 25. Their kid was roughly 5 years old. Do the math? A 15ish boy forced into fatherhood with an adult? What?!

His concern for his mother dating a convict. Who wouldnt be concerned? Didnt he lose his brother to the streets? Didnt his mother kick his brother out and he lost his life? Why wouldnt he be concerned?

Now the narrative about him being a bum. He was trying to hustle and figure out finances as a young man in a bad environment. I was 20 once. And while i had a job, i did NOT have life figured out yet. And i think the only reason folks feel he shouldve is because he's bald and looks way older than the character hes portraying.
I often see the narrative online that Jody was a bum. But when you include he's a young man who was taken advantage of, lost a sibling, and was only 20, i just dont see it that way. I waited until i was nearly 30 and financially stable to start having kids. Idk where I'd be career wise if i had a kid at 15. Thoughts?
