why i don’t believe the theory that kill bill is fox force five.

if you watch a video or read an article about popular movie fan theories, one theory that you'll see appear quite frequently is the theory that kill bill is actually fox force five, the failed pilot that mia wallace filmed prior to the events of pulp fiction. the most common evidence cited is that the bride is played by the same actress who played mia, there are five members of both fox force five and the deadly viper assasination squad, and the descriptions of the members of fox force five match members of the deadly viper assasination squad.

i recently went to go see kill bill the whole bloody affair in theaters so, as you can probably imagine, kill bill has been on my mind a lot lately. personally, this has always been one of those film theories that i've been skeptical about because there's even more evidence against it.

1: fox force five is stated to be a team of 5 WOMEN. the deadly viper assasination squad has 4 women and 1 man.

2: it's often said that mia's character was "the deadliest woman in the world with a knife". beatrix only uses a knife during her confrontation with vernita at the beginning of volume 1. while she's shown to be quite handy with it, she mainly uses a kitana. of course, an argument could be made that a sword is merely a large knife.

3: the "blonde leader" from fox force five is often cited as elle. elle isn't the leader of the deadly viper assasination squad. bill is.

4: one member of fox force five was a french woman. many have argued that this description matches sofie, o ren's assistant and best friend. while sofie is an associate of bill, she's not really a member of the squad.

5: in fox force five, the titular team was fully together. for most of kill bill, the team is fractured and a large part of the plot of kill bill is beatrix killing her former teammates.

so yeah. i don't buy it.
