I want to know what have you really thought about this film? I liked it when young, it made me discover Van Sant I think To Die For is a tribute to Nicole Kidman's beauty and class. It was also one of the great roles of Nicole who sparked the interest of others director. There is a peculiar atmosphere in this film, sometimes it's funny even if it's not really a comedy. Matt Dillon delivered also a great atmosphere and we discovered Cassey Affleck. I could dive into the story, however I don't think it was successful satire of mediatisation despite the clear desire to do so. Gus Van Sant is better in making hints or letting the viewer delve in the movie with no guiding lines, like he did in Drugstore Cowboys, Elephant or Paranoid Park. Good Will Hunting and Finding Forester were less symbolic but still not political or ideological.
Anyway, I have mixed feelings on To Die For, I would like to know your impressions about this movie.
