If I switch to another app while Gemini is generating a response, the response gets cancelled. This never used to happen before. The same thing happened with Perplexity too.
What’s strange is that if I hit New Chat after starting a search, the response doesn’t cancel but the unfinished response also doesn’t appear in my chat history, which makes me paranoid about whether it’s still generating or if it silently failed.
They really need a proper multitasking system on mobile so we can run multiple chats at once and merge information if needed.
### 2. No indicator for thinking time.
Gemini sometimes takes a long time to think. AI Studio shows a timer, which makes the wait less annoying. Gemini should add something similar.
3. Missing project-style features.
A lot of people are asking for a project feature like ChatGPT has. It’s surprising that Google still hasn’t added something equivalent.
Has anyone else noticed the background cancellation getting worse recently?
