I just found out the sequel to Chronicle, Chronicle 2: Martyr’s script was leaked years ago and then confirmed to be true. Sadly it was cancelled for being too dark. It was beautifully dark and tragic. Not one of these quirky happy go lucky super human/ super hero movies. The surviving main character from the original ended up with a dark depressing fate even though he was for all intents and purposes a very moral and good person. The new protagonist was an innocent youth trying to control her newfound powers while trying to do good, but was demonized by the government and eventually eliminated but her tragedy was captured and posted online, which would’ve led into the third movie.
We missed out on what could’ve been the greatest found footage sequel ever in Chronicle 2: Martyr
