By skyforbes I recently learned that Les Claypool (from Primus) auditioned to be the bassist for Metallica. Ultimately, he didn't join the band.
I saw a video clip of James Hetfield saying that Les was 'too good' for Metallica.
Is this true, or do you think there were other reasons it didn't work out?
