I think that, when reviewing indie games, they should receive preference over AAA games.
Typically, people assume that when you buy a game, you spend the money they cost and that's it (assuming no microtransactions), so there should not be any preference over either.
However! I consider buying indie games an investment, rather than a cost. When you buy a AAA game, a large part of the cost goes to the CEO's pocket, who might fire the developers anyway. On the contrary, when you buy an indie game, you're actually helping the studio stay afloat, make more games, and compete with AAA studios, avoiding monopolies.
In conclusion: buying indie games is fun AND GOOD FOR YOUR POCKET. Therefore, indie games actually cost indie bucks.
