AI agents: do you actually use them or is it all slop?

I keep listening to tech podcasts or read on twitter that the internet is going to be taken over by agents that are prompted by people to do work for them:

  • to do market research for them (already happening)
  • buy plane tickets
  • book appointments their appointments (barber/dentist etc.)
  • meal planning and ordering groceries
  • and so on

Currently, I work in an environment full of very tech-savvy people (who are all building something related to AI) yet I do not know anyone using agents to any extent aside from work-related things like writing, coding and ideating- all actions happening inside the same interface like cursor's, gemini or chatgpt (I guess the only exception might be market research.)

So my question is, are there any people out there that are actually using agents to do anything else besides coding as of now?
