One Hour Photo’s missed opportunity.

Rewatching One Hour Photo for the first time in years, and for the first time since learning that Trent Reznor was turned down as composer for the score.

What was Mark Romanek thinking?! The score that was chosen for One Hour Photo is fine, if a little conventional for the most part, but Reznor could have added an entirely new dimension to the atmosphere.

What's even more baffling is that Romanek directed NIN's 'Closer', and would have surely been aware of Reznor's previous work on the Se7en, score.
Not only this, but there are some distinct pieces within the score that sound distinctly 'Reznoresque' in tone, which suggests that Romanek had at the very least been influenced by Reznor's work.

Did Romanek genuinely just feel like Reznor would have been a bad overall fit for the movie, or were there personal differences at play? I'd absolutely love to hear a cut of this movie with the Reznor score!
