Go to goodwill and make your own DIY thrifted frame make over with a hand-painted floral cottagecore decor style!
I love painting flowers on various household objects, so as you can imagine, my pinterest feed shows me various others things that can also be painted with flowers. When I started seeing thrifted frames remade anew with paint, I knew I had to give it a try. I just couldn’t help myself. I pretty much stopped everything else I was doing and me and my daughter turned our afternoons into a handpainting handicraft afternoon. I might have stayed up late one night finishing mine. Oh, how I loved how they turned out. The rest of my frames seem so boring now and I feel the need to paint them all. Alas, that has yet to happen.

I’m definitly one of those people that once I settle on a color combo I could probably keep with those set colors. Yellows, light pinks and greens are beautiful together.
These below are the ones my 9 year old daughter did. I love the folkish and impressionistic look of hers. After she did a few frames, my 7 year old begged me to buy him some frames to paint. Which I finally did but he has yet to paint them. I’m excited to see what he does with his. He has even requested for me to print off a specific picture of him for after he paints his frame.
What I really love about all these frames is that they feel very folkish and feel like we’re in a cottage. Cottagecore decor is a new style that I just really love and these hand painted flower frames are an easy way to incorporate cottagecore into my decor.

Tips for painting frames:
2. Flat Frames: there are some fun frames out there, but for painting flowers, I find that a flat surface is easiest to work with. My daughter had a hard time with her curvy frame, but she insisted on doing it.
3. Use fine tip brushes: I soon realized that fine tip brushes are key for tiny detail work. I definitely made it work with thicker ones, but when I finally did fine tip, it looked so much better.
4. Don’t Give Up and Finish the design: As I was painting my greenery vines, I kept thinking they looked terrible. But I finished them and then added some accent greens and then the flowers. Those details made them go from unsure to imperfectly perfect.
5. Picking paint colors: If you’re planning, or wanting, to use this in a gallery wall, try to stick to a palette. This will then look so great on the wall if they are similar colors in that palette. Also, if you know the picture you’re putting inside the frame, consider picking paint colors to match the picture.
I hope this post inspires some of you just as I was inspired by others who have shared their beautiful frames. I hope I have more to share in the future!
