Well I got the ALERT notice from his BLOG on a Friday… the new book was coming out. It was very auspicious as it posted on my maternal grandmother’s birthday October 24th. I was very close to her, missed her, but she also was whispering in regularly so I was not surprised to hear from her.

I was fielding so many more questions from her than answers as I tried to pretend I enjoyed being the weird elder in the room of record while respectfully honoring her unseen presence. She was careful to consistently encourage me, blessing me so sweetly when I took the time to nap frequently and listen more. I was now the grandmother of five, when I wanted to be the grand daughter and just be held. I needed lots of instructions.

I’d missed a huge family GATHERING on October 5th that had taken place in my hometown of New York City. My absence from the event triggered a deeper dive into my own family stories to assuage my guilt in not being able to attend this time.
