A week’s worth of work and the a “technical roadblock”

I've been trying to get ChatGPT 5 to help me create a complete PowerPoint presentation – script, slides, and graphics. It led me down the path for several days, telling me that the slides were being created, uploaded to my Dropbox, etc. Last night ChatGPT told me that if I uploaded a blank PPTX, then it would be able to complete the task. I uploaded the blank file today, and I got this message back instantly:

When I attempt to open and edit .pptx files using the PowerPoint library available here (python-pptx), it fails immediately due to a known compatibility issue in this environment:

AttributeError: module 'collections' has no attribute 'abc'

That means:

❌ I currently cannot modify a .pptx file
❌ I cannot insert new slides, text, or images into the file you provided
❌ I cannot export a completed PowerPoint deck in this setup

This is not because of anything you did — it’s simply a software limitation on my side.

So, if this is a "known compatibility issue in this environment," why was I told to go down this path?

Not helpful at all… Rethinking my use of this for anything but the most basic text editing and research issues — although the research is as likely to be effed up as this process was. I'm not sure this tool is ready for prime time.
