We're constructing a house. Labor is very expensive, so we're doing some doable things by ourselves. It's almost complete and live able, just the final phase.
Today, I was putting some Christmas lights, from all sides of the roof boundary. We were alone, so I climbed the ladder and she hold it from below, to keep it sturdy. I predicted that it's gonna take at least an hour, so obviously she doesn't have to hold the ladder or be present at the site, until I need her to hold the ladder again when I come down.
She has this weird habit of keeping her phone on silent, because she generally gets 2-3 calls/day, that too at fixed times. So, she likes her phone silent the rest of the time. Before climbing, I had specifically told her to not to silent her phone and make sure to pick my call. Because I'll call her to hold the ladder when I come down.
It would be very awkward to call her by name loudly from the top because it's a very calm neighborhood and we're new + I'm an introvert. After the work was done, I called her 20 times but she didn't answer. I shouted her name 5 times but no answer. I was stuck there for 30-35 mins, stressed in the winter, it was getting dark, making it worse and getting tensed. The height is good enough to NOT to jump down.
She finally came after 35 mins with a stupidly smiling face and held the ladder, as if it was meant to be funny. Told me that she slept + FORGOT to turn off silent mode. I yelled at her in frustration she got upset AITA
I was hurt mainly because it hinted how important my well being is for her, similar thing happened in the past with the door key of our previous living place, I was stuck outside for hours, that's another story.
