Psychedelic folk peppers Trost’s third solo release, as she explores finding serenity.
Petrichor is one of my favorite scents. Earthy, slightly aquatic, and vegetal, it’s always been a calming essence. For Heather Trost, this is a space to find consolation. Heather’s background working with bands like Beirut, Swans, and A Hawk and a Hacksaw has only broadened her songwriting in the realms of alternative folk. For her third solo album, Trost draped her songs in psychedelic folk to capture that sense of enchanted beauty where you and find solitude.
Though released during quarantine, she revealed to the American Blues Scene how it relates to her need to find joy outside of the chaos that had previously surrounded her:
“Even though shit had yet to hit the fan when I wrote these songs… 2019 also felt like such a crazy year in terms of what was happening in the world, I felt like I needed to remind myself to have joy and love in my heart.
