The trailer begins with a view of the Chicago skyline. The car door opens. “Bye, Mommy,” said the child named Milo.

“Bye, Sweetheart,” Marissa said (Sarah Snook), Milo’s Mom.

It cuts to a child and an adult walking. The adult grasped the child’s hand.

You hear the voiceover of the Detective, “99% of the time, when a child goes missing, it’s a misunderstanding between parents, grandparents, nannies….”

Oh, f***. This is the absolute nightmare of any parent, having your child missing.

It cuts to Marissa with a smiling face. She knocked on someone’s door. The door opened. “Hi,” she said. “I’m Marissa. I’m here to pick up my son, Milo.”

A nice old lady said, “There’s no Milo here.”

You see the absolute FEAR and SHOCK that ran instantly in Marissa. It’s cut to a different scene where she hugs her husband.

It cuts to the Detective’s (Michael Peña) office, “But Milo’s been missing for five hours now. It’s not a misunderstanding.”

I am now a lawyer. This is for informational purposes only. Consult a lawyer for legal matters. In many movies and shows, they wait 24 hours before you can report a missing person. I found out that that is a myth. It might have been informally applied by some police. The majority of missing people, especially adults, end up turning up in the end. But if you suspect a child or an adult is missing, report immediately.

It cuts to nighttime. Marissa opened her door to meet with Jenny (Dakota Fanning). “I’m so sorry,” Jenny said with tears on her eyes. They hugged afterward. HOWEVER, let’s unpack the scene. First of all, why did Jenny apologize? Is she at fault? Is she accountable in any way? Also, Sarah Snook is a great actress. Many of you have seen Succession, I presume. After Jenny said sorry, Marissa squinted her eyes for a second, as if asking,

‘Why are you apologizing?’

‘Did you have anything to do with Milo’s disappearance?’

That makes Jenny sus to me.

It cuts to Marissa and her husband conducting a press conference. With a shaking voice and tears about to burst out of her eyes, Marissa said, “If there’s any information, please, we beg you, come forward.”

A reporter stood up, “Mrs. Irvine, did you contact a publishing house? Couldn’t you’re current debt be offset by what you might stand to gain?”

What the f*** kind of question is that? A child is missing, and we’re talking about a book deal? HOWEVER, the debt angle is interesting. A lot of people have debt. I have debt. How much debt does she have? Is it possible (anything is possible) that she orchestrated the whole thing to sell some books and pay for her debt?

Marissa and her husband walked out. Cameras flashed around them

“Mrs. Irvine…” another reporter attempted to ask a question.

“He’s my Son!” Marissa exploded.

It cuts back to Marissa’s house. The Detective gave her a picture. “I Have a picture here of Carrie Finch (Sopia Lillis).”

“So she has my son?” Peter said (Jake Lacy), Marissa’s husband.

TRIVIA: Sophia Lillis is the girl from IT, the Stephen King 2017 movie. She’s all grown up now.

Carrie has short red hair, but it cuts to her wearing a long, brunette wig.

It cuts to the voice of a policeman, “We found a body.”

Oh sh**. That’s NOT what you want to hear if your child is missing. It cuts to the Detective and a policeman in another person’s kitchen. They did find a body. Thankfully, it’s not a child’s body. It’s a man lying on the kitchen floor with a pool of blood around his head.

“She’s not working alone,” the policeman said.

It cuts to Marissa and Jenny talking at a bench near the sea. “People feel bad for me, but they don’t wanna talk to me,” Marissa told her. “They think that he’s…gone.” Tears poured out of her eyes.

Jenny held her hand. “Well, I don’t think that.” She’s still sus to me.

“We do anything for our kids,” Marissa told her. “That’s our job.”

It cuts to both Marissa and Jenny playing with their kids. That’s good info. They are both Moms.

It cuts to a group discussion with the Detective, Marissa, and a few friends. “I’m gonna need the names of anyone that could have a connection with Carrie Finch.”

“You don’t understand?” Marissa told the Detective. “It was just the people in this room.”

It shows the faces of the rest of the cast: Lia (Abby Elliot), Richie (Thomas Cocquerel), Collin (Jay Ellis), Brendan (Rowan Witt), and Alex (Sachin Joab).

That’s good for the show. At this point, it doesn’t just feel like a missing child show; it feels like a whodunnit.

It cuts to a large gathering of people. In the middle is a large MISSING poster of Milo. People are stapling Milo’s poster on trees and posts.

It cuts back to Marissa and the Detective at her porch, “Is there a chance that your husband received a ransom notification?”

“She wouldn’t keep something that big from me?” she said.

It cuts to a sus scene where her husband went to an empty parking lot where he got a large duffel bag.

You see random scenes of her husband angry or pissed off. Jake Lacy has a douchebag face. That’s like a resting b*tch face for guys. He looks suspicious when he is angry. Given that, they might be trying to swerve us.

It cuts to Marissa’s house. She raised her voice, “You, Collin, and Lia are all lying to me!

He confronted Collin. “You’re hiding something from me,” she told him. “I don’t know what that is.

“No. No. No. Wait — ” Collin said.

It cuts to Jenny and Marissa talking on a porch while having a glass of wine. “What are you gonna do?” Jenny asked.

“I will do whatever it takes,” Marissa said.

Marissa and Jenny smiled at each other. Dakota Fanning still looks sus to me, seeing her facial expressions and all. Either she’s not that great of an actor, and she’s being obvious, or she’s a very good actor, and this is all a swerve.

It cuts to Marissa in her room with piles of cash in a bag. It’s a scene that’s less than one second. Is she compiling cash for ransom? OR did she find a pile of cash inside her house, or inside one of her friend’s houses, indicating that they got the ransom money, which means they kidnapped Milo?

“I think even good people can do bad things when they’re pushed,” the Detective told someone in the station.

It cuts to a living room…,

“Maybe YOU are the reason why Milo went missing!”

Lia yelled at someone, but you don’t know who. Could it be Marissa? Her husband? Jenny?

The last scene of the trailer is the Detective and a policeman looking at the screen with 8 suspects. “You know, I honestly didn’t see this coming. These nice people killing each other.”

For context, the series is set in the suburbs of Chicago. So these are suburban folks.

On the screen, you see Marissa, Peter, a guy and two women I don’t know, Jennie, Collin, and Carrie.
