Am I losing it or did AI image models become more “creative” and less actually useful?

Prompt engineering like don't get me wrong, the tech is incredible but I feel like I'm going insane because everyone's hyping up how amazing these tools are and meanwhile I can't get them to do basic stuff without 20 attempts example: I wanted to turn a regular photo of myself into something I could use for work stuff. not cartoon. not artistic. just… better lighting and professional looking tried it. got something that looked like a video game character. tried again with more specific prompts. still wrong .here's my confusion: why are we optimizing these tools to be MORE creative and artistic when most people just want them to do boring practical stuff? I don't need AI to imagine a fantasy landscape. I need it to make my photo look good for zoom calls I don't need 50 style options. writing 20 lines of prompt 15 times so yeah I'm an idiot .Anyway, I’ve been thinking a lot about how ridiculous prompt engineering has become. Anyway, it just made me wonder if anyone else feels like prompt engineering has become way too complicated for basic tasks. Curious if I’m alone on this.
