How the World Works is a series written by Anne Rooney for children ages 11–12, but adults can enjoy them, too. Anne Rooney has a degree and a PhD from Trinity College, Cambridge. You can look up more about this author on your own.

Why Astronomy?

I picked up this book from the Bargain Books section at Books-A-Million. Sometimes I read textbooks for fun, not because I’m trying to be better than anyone, but because I like learning new things. Besides, you never know what you can use in future stories and I’m definitely not egotistic enough to think I know everything reading these books. In fact, the more I read, the more I don’t actually know. Seems weird but it’s true.

I also like science although mathematics still scares me. It’s work in progress.

This brief astronomy guide was packed with information that I appreciated reading. I also at one point had to teach autistic middle schoolers, (I really hope those former students of mine are doing okay) and they appreciated the little tidbits I threw in when I was teaching them. I think they loved our science labs and games more, but I digress.
