Ok, now that we have some distance between last Oscar season, I think its time we finally have a real discussion about how in the world did Anora win anything, and how do people consider it a good movie? I love films, and I will watch anything at least once, and try to find the positive in it, even if its something not generally liked.
Meanwhile my wife is someone who hasn't seen a lot of movies, we both had very similar views about Anora. While it was funny, even when it wasn't trying to be, it felt like it was trying to say something but would never commit to what it was trying to say.
I feel like there is a great movie in there somewhere, but that's not what we got. Compared to something like The Substance, it felt shallow. Some of the characters were great, but never fully fleahed out.
Idk, i just want to hear some otger opinions, I sometimes can go 0 to 100 pretty strongly.
Tldr; Anora, how, when, what, why? Didn't get the hype, how do you feel?
