Can you help me out? NC Medicaid sent my application to social security and they determined me to be disabled. The state also qualified me for full time nursing care (CAP.) However, my Medicaid worker said I have a spend down amount that must be met on the same day of the determination, or they must close my case. I had sent in medical bills equal to qualify within the Medicaid 2-year look back period, but an arbitrary date of disability onset was chosen by social security around 6 months prior, and my worker could now only accept bills from that time period. Those bills weren’t high enough so, my case was closed and I was encouraged to reapply should my circumstances change.
I have no income. My spouse has income that is over the limit, including somewhat over for nursing or ltc. Disabled adult child. Own a home, but no countable assets. Any paths forward?
