Are movies actually getting worst or is it just natural progression of cinema/old man screaming at clouds?

I donno, I think we have a lot of nostalgia for films from the 80/90s/2000s. The difference between 80s-00's is the same as now to the year 2000. Im sure people who grew up watching 80s films were also annoyed about the direction films were going in the year 2000? I donno.

I think the kids of today will reminisce about the films being made today, right? The qualities of cinematography, lighting, set design etc will genuinely be nostalgic to these kids. People say everything looks unreal, fake and 'Netflix' films (theyre still wildly popular and watched) being quite common discussions about todays films. But for them its just what films have always looked like in their world.

When Star Wars came out, older cinephiles complained that cinema was becoming childish spectacle.
When The Matrix came out, people said CGI was ruining film.
When Tarantino and Fincher emerged, older directors said the new style was too slick and soulless.

But cinemas being made today is a reflection of our day and age, for better or for worse.

What do u think?
