Do you know Baba Yaga? She’s a witch-like figure from Slavic folklore, living in a forest hut standing on chicken legs and traveling in a mortar while steering with a pestle. She shifts between threatening and unexpectedly helpful, which gives her a distinctive place in the myth tradition.

By the way, is there actually a good film about her? I remember seeing her as a kid in the Russian movie Morozko (Father Frost), but I don’t know of a standalone film that really focuses on her. It feels like the mythology has enough depth for someone to create a serious, well-crafted adaptation. I wish someone would finally make one.
