When Jennette McCurdy’s memoir came, I was doubtful about reading about it. I had mistaken when I judged her book according to the title of it, which I shouldn’t have done. However, after these few months of mentally debating whether I should read her memoir or not, I have decided to buy my own copy and read it from cover to cover. I decided to because I did some biography research on McCurdy’s personal life. I found out that McCurdy’s mother was abusive to her as she pressured her daughter into fame during childhood. Just reading some information about her mom made me feel disheartened. I wanted to read more about McCurdy’s side of her story about what she went through growing up.

In a nutshell, I found out that McCurdy grew up in a poor home, and her childhood house was filled with trash because her mother, Debra, became a hoarder after her breast cancer diagnosis. McCurdy grew up in a dysfunctional family with parents who seemingly abhorred each other and her three older brothers. McCurdy and her brothers had to sleep on the living room floor because their bedrooms were filled with hoarded clutter. Just reading that part broke…
