Book Review : The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose

I’ve finished reading the book by Jeneva Rose, which tells about Sarah Morgan, a professional lawyer who was cheated on by her husband, Adam Morgan, a writer who had lost his fame.
Sarah defended her husband in court because he was accused of murdering his mistress at their lake house in Prince William County, Virginia.
Even though Adam cheated on her, Sarah still defended him to find the real murderer, because she believed her husband was not guilty but was framed by someone who knew about the affair.

This novel actually pictures how a wife still stands beside her husband in his darkest time — not only standing by him but also defending him in front of the judge, even though he betrayed her.
It shows that marriage isn’t only about love, but also loyalty and honesty. Even though marriage life isn’t always in a good situation, they must face the storm together.

Furthermore, Jeneva made me angry and annoyed with Adam, because as a husband, he didn’t have a strong foundation. He caused his wife so much distress during the trial because he ran away from home and even left the police station.
And his mother never respected or trusted Sarah — she always interfered in their lives and even in Sarah’s investigation.

However, what surprised me the most is that the book is full of plot twists. It’s really — I mean truly — unpredictable from the beginning. The story deceives us as readers while we try to find the real murderer, because most of the characters seem to have an alibi.

Overall, as a reader, I never expected who the murderer, the victim, or even the innocent one was.
The twist shocked me — the murderer turned out to be his wife, who helped him as a lawyer but secretly planned her revenge carefully because her husband cheated on her.

Nevertheless, this book taught me to be loyal and cautious, because sometimes, the person we trust the most can stab us in the back — or even destroy us completely.
