Bugonia (2025) TRAILER REVIEW: Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Alicia Silverstone, Stavros Halkias, Aldan Delbis

The trailer begins with Michell Fuller (Emma Stone) walking in at a modern office wearing a dark red power suit. “Good morning, Corey,” she greeted an employee.

“Good morning, Michelle,” the female employee responded.

It cuts to Michelle’s Forbes and Time Magazine covers in picture frames. You hear her voiceover, “I believe every company should strive to form a diverse table.”

It cuts to Michelle wearing that creepy, rejuvenating, Jabbawockeez mask. It’s white, but the eyes and mouth are glowing red. She’s in her mansion, seated on a nice yellow accent chair while texting.

“To empower people of different skills…”

It cuts to her in a martial arts training at home. You see her punching her trainer with her fist.

It cuts to a glass boardroom. She’s recording a press video for the company.

“And…” but her tone changed. Michelle is pissed off, “EVERY TIME! What is it?”

“Skills and identities — ” her male staff responded.

“ — To foster a new generation of….okay…let’s go again,” Michell smiled.

I think the scene is showing that she’s really not sincere. It’s not off the cuff. She is reading a copy-written script to virtue signal to the public that the company cares about diversity and empowering people.

It cuts to Teddy (Jesse Plemons) riding a bike alone in the middle of a country road. It cuts to him pushingg his bike with friend Don (Aidan Delbis). You hear Teddy’s voiceover. “They want you to think it’s you. That it’s you who made this world.”

It cuts to Teddy working in some sort of fulfillment center. He looks like an Amazon worker.

“But it’s always been them,”

It cuts to Michelle with sunglasses driving her black Mercedes Benz G Class. Back at her mansion, Teddy and Don hid in the bushes with masks. They attacked Michelle. But of course, the movie did foreshadow that Michelle had martial arts training. She fought them off. Michelle tried to run but Teddy tackled her, right onto her fish pond or infinity pool.

“All we’ve lost, all that’s been done to us, we’re setting that right again.”

The screen turned BLACK.

When it comes back, Michelle is all bald and inside a basement.

“Greetings,” Teddy said. “Welcome to the headquarters of the human resistance.”

Teddy and Don now wore grey suits and tie.

“Where is my hair?” Michelle asked as she touched her bald head.

“Your hair has been destroyed,” Teddy said. “To prevent you from contacting your ship.”

“What ship?” Michelle asked.

“Your mothership,” Teddy said.

Michelle stared at her for a second, “Okay.”

Unfortunately, this movie is very relatable to many people today. Life is hard. The economy is tough. It seems ‘the system’ is working against you. People have the desire to rebel. The conspiracy theory mindset had always been in the American Psyche. But with social media, Reddit, 4Chan, and people like Joe Rogan, it’s more mainstream than ever.

“In the next 48 hours,” Michelle said, “the police and the FBI will begin a state-wide man hunt. I’m a high-profile female corporate executive. I am crucial. In all humility, I can say that.”

It cuts to Teddy and Don wearing hazmat suits outdoors. It cuts to Teddy placing aluminum foil on his kitchen window. They are all-in in the conspiracy thing. They think that Michell is an alien? But is she an alien or just an un-sympathetic corporate executive?

“Think of it like you’ve abducted the governor, but worse,” she said.

It cuts to Teddy at his office pantry. On the TV, he is watching the news report about Michelle’s abduction.

“There is no possible scenario where you benefit from this incident,” she told Teddy and Don.

Teddy laughed. “That is really good. My pulse is raising right now.”

That’s what I like about this movie. It’s either Teddy and Don are conspiracy nuts who think that Michelle is an alien, or they are correct andMichelle is an actual alien.

“I’ve done a ton of research on this,” Teddy told her. “You are killing our planet.”

It cuts to Teddy compiling newspaper clips. It cuts to Teddy writing a ton of notes. It cuts to a bee flying over a red flower. It cuts to Michelle with a face mask while jogging on a treadmill.

“I am not an alien,” Michelle said.

“You’re lying to me,” Teddy responded.

“What’s the difference,” Michelle smirked.

It cuts to the police knocking over Teddy’s house.

Back to the interrogation, Michelle faced Don. “You know this is crazy. You know this is wrong.”

Teddy pointed to her face, “I know who you are. I know WHAT you are.”

“I know you too, Teddy,” Michelle told him.

That’s a pretty MEATY line. The worker thinks that they know their CEO. She is an alien from another planet. That’s why she got so rich. The CEO thinks that these are unintelligent workers who have nothing better to do after work except conspiracy stuff.

Don faced Michelle, and then faced Teddy.

Suddenly, Teddy climbed up the dining table. He CRAWLED to ATTACK Michelle like a wild animal.

I think the movie is an allegory of the mindset of many people today. As I’ve mentioned, life is hard. The economy is tough. It seems ‘the system’ is working against you.

So which side are you on? The blue collar worker in a fulfillment center, or their CEO?
