The way that I use my chat is to world build for a story I’ve been developing for years, and the memories are great for organization and context. I love starting a new chat and being able to mention something about a character, and the chat knows what I mean.
For a while my memories were 100% full, and I would just keep track of any new ideas and remind chat when I needed them. A little annoying but fine.
Then recently it got expanded- so I’m able to save them again!
But it also reminded me of a bug that would happen, where chat would start saving every little thing to memory- unprompted. I’d literally respond to a message and- “saved to memories” would pop up. Then I’d have to go in and delete them. Sometimes it would save the same memory multiple times.
So it’s been doing that. And it’s frustrating as hell. I’ve told chat to stop and it’ll be like “I’m sorry, that was bad of me, from now on I’ll not to it until asked”
And then it’ll do it again.
I LOVE the memory feature but it’s frusterating when it happens and it takes me out of the chat. I get so mad.
I read a couple posts about it in the past but haven’t seen anyone talking about it recently.
Does Open AI know about this?
TLDR: chat won’t stop saving irrelevant shit to memories
