OpenAI’s latest update lets users access third-party apps directly in ChatGPT — booking trips, making purchases, and creating playlists in one seamless AI conversation, though privacy concerns keep the feature out of the EU for now

OpenAI recently announced a major shift in how its flagship artificial intelligence system, ChatGPT, interacts with third-party applications as it moves toward a more integrated and interactive AI ecosystem.

The new system will allow users to access and use external apps natively within ChatGPT’s platform, turning the chatbot into a portal for a wide range of services — all accessible without leaving the chat. For instance, someone could ask ChatGPT to help them find and book a hotel through Booking.com or create a personalized playlist via Spotify, all within the same chat window.

This innovation reflects OpenAI’s ambition not only to expand the practical utility of ChatGPT but also to keep users more deeply engaged within its ecosystem.
