ChatGPT is like a hammer. It’s not about the model, it’s about how you use it

All this talk about different ChatGPT models reminds me of hammers.

A hammer is a hammer, right? But there are all kinds like claw hammers, sledgehammers, mallets, each designed for something specific. Still, they’re all just hammers.

If you know how to use a particular hammer, you can do more with it than most people could with a whole toolbox. You learn how it feels, what angles work best, and how to make it do what you need and even things it wasn’t meant for.

That’s how I use ChatGPT. I don’t keep switching between models to see which one works best. I adjust how I describe my problem, so the hammer fits the task. And when you do that, the results can surprise you.

What I mean is, people spend so much time switching between models or debating which version is “smarter", but that’s like swapping hammers when you haven’t learned how to swing the one in your hand.

Once you understand how ChatGPT thinks and how to guide it, you can shape your questions, tone, and detail to get almost any kind of result you want. The real difference isn’t in the hammer, it’s in the craftsman holding it.

Kudos to ChatGPT for being a hammer that adapts to the craftsman.
