Why ChatGPT Might Replace Your App Store
ChatGPT is changing. It’s becoming less of a chatbot. More of a hub. A place where you can access and use different apps.
At the developer day, OpenAI announced deep integrations with major platforms including Figma, Coursera, Zillow, Canva and others. All these companies are building in-app experiences that sit inside the ChatGPT window.
So if you want to design something, take a course, find a home to buy or design marketing campaigns, you don’t leave the ChatGPT window. ChatGPT brings the app to you.
The technical framework announced makes this possible through standardised APIs and what OpenAI calls ChatGPT Actions, essentially allowing third-party services to expose their core functionality directly within the chat interface.
This is more significant than it sounds.
What this actually means
Today, if you want to do something on your phone, you open an app. Need to learn Spanish? Open Duolingo. Need to edit a photo? Open Photoshop. There’s a box for every tool.
