Weird question but does anyone know by chance if medicaid covers a dental cone beam xray (CBCT) I went to Bright Now dental today because it was the first place i called that could fit me in in short notice for really bad tooth pain from a hole and cavity in my upper molar. I blindly signed paperwork before the visit because i was and still am in so much pain I just wanted relief. Also I figured since its not cosmetic and its medically necessary because i could get an abscess or infection that medicaid would cover the entirety of the first exam. I didnt get a cleaning, and the tooth causing me pain wasnt even touched they said I HAD to get the xrays and full exam so I complied. Long story short, they say ill need quite a bit of work, root canals, all the fun stuff! So they drew up a game plan and gave me a receipt estimating what medicaid will cover and what I might have to cover and they want to charge me $250 for the CBCT xray.. which i was not anticipating and cant afford… I just wanted the tooth causing me issues looked at, pulled or filled, but im still in pain..
Is there any chance at all that medicaid will cover the CBCT?! If they dont is there anyway I can dispute it? I cant afford that and I just wanted some relief from this pain but now my wallets potentially hurting instead.. 💔
