Collaborate with Peachill and Insider Louisville to go beyond rhetoric in Medicaid debate

We hear it all the time: What happened to the regular dose of in-depth journalism we used to rely on in Louisville and around the country?

A lot has happened in media, journalism and publishing over the past 10 years that has created an unhealthy culture around journalism that has made it as consumable as any other bit of “content” on the web. Outlets such as Insider Louisville are doing all they can to provide their readers with the daily news and context you rely on.

But Peachill Publishing is here because we know that they, and others with great story ideas, can’t do it alone.

That’s why we’re partnering with Insider Louisville to FUND and SHARE a story framed around a vital question:

How are the new Medicaid work requirements in Louisville affecting people hoping to stay eligible?

Fund and share this story today at Peachill.com.

We covered this question back in September, and Louisville independent journalist Sarah Kelley correctly predicted what would happen with Medicaid in the state and around the country.

Here’s how it works:

  1. We present the idea and we want to hear what you think: Is this a worthy topic? What have you heard about the new Medicaid requirements? What do you want to know? Comment on Peachill’s project page.
  2. FUND on the same story page and SHARE with your friends! Give as little as $1 — you’re only charged if the campaign is successful. This is what we call a Tier II story (read more about what that means here), needing a total of $1,000.
  3. If the campaign is successful we hire a freelance writer and editor.
  4. Don’t go away! Peachill ascribes to an open reporting process — we want you to be a part of it and give us feedback along the way, so you’ll get periodic updates.

When the process is complete both Peachill and Insider Louisville will publish the story.

Questions? I’m happy to answer them: [email protected].

And this is just the beginning. We’re excited to continue to work with Insider Louisville and others on high-quality state and local journalism. Let’s get started!
