Cost of living in Canada is out of control.

I'm 38 years old, been working my ass off for years to try and build financial stability and comfort but I still feel like I'm starting out. My wife and I make nearly $55 an hour combined, which should be enough to live comfortably and enjoy some luxuries in life. We were lucky to have bought a small (starter) home in 2017, which is now likely our forever home with the way things are going. Groceries are our biggest expense, but it seems every month or two something else goes up.

When I was in my twenties, house holds that made over $50 an hour were reasonably well off. People could have a nice home, new cars in the driveway, take vacations, and be able to save for retirement.

Nowadays, our $55 an hour income just barely covers expenses, with minimal savings, minimal debt retirement, and vacations and other luxuries out of the question. It just feels like I'm working to live.

It's so frustrating and I'm just wondering how others are doing and does anyone see there ever being light at the end of the tunnel?
