During OpenAI’s recent DevDay, they announced apps in ChatGPT.
At launch they have 7 apps: Booking.com, Canva, Coursera, Expedia, Figma, Spotify, and Zillow. And I’m sure many more will join later.
This idea of apps inside other apps has a name, it’s commonly referred to as a super app. There are no super apps in western countries but they are very popular in Asia with apps like WeChat, Gojek, and Grab. I discussed this here.

Apple recognizes that super apps with mini programs would threaten its monopoly. As one Apple manager put it, allowing super apps to become “the main gateway where people play games, book a car, make payments, etc.” would “let the barbarians in at the gate.” Why? Because when a super app offers popular mini programs, “iOS stickiness goes down.”
