Could the adults in ‘a quiet place’ just have used protection or just idk, refrained from fcking for a while?

This film and its sequel pissed me off because everything’s completely avoidable. I get them feeling like hey, the worlds ending, humanity is getting wiped out, let’s fuck to take our minds off the doom, but couldn’t they have stolen some birth control while they were raiding the pharmacies or even just been celibate for a while? Not only are they putting their own lives at risk by raw dogging, but they’re putting their existing children’s lives at risk too. Makes no sense to me
