By skyforbes I have a friend who is on the CDPHP essential plan that includes dental via Delta Dental – and they have to get an emergency root canal. There are literally zero in network specialists covered by this insurance within 2hrs of driving. I have the private delta dental insurance, and I can go to an out of network and receive maybe 30%-50% back in a check weeks later.
My friend is freaking out (understandably), as when you google around on this it says that the medicaid/essential plan for delta won't touch out of network at all, unlike my 30%-50% rebate.
I've told them to just have them run the insurance anyways when they go to get treatment, but I wish I had better answers. Does anyone have more info on this, or a suggestion on what to do when there genuinely isn't anyone who takes the insurance in the entire region but the work needs to be done. They don't have much money so I want to do what I can to alleviate the stress. Their treatment is in a week.
