By skyforbes I just think they would’ve mentioned it or hinted something, but maybe that’s what the whole verification process is about. I don’t know, because they haven’t said anything. It’s just a whole lot of guessing.
I honestly don’t have a huge issue with rerouting or guardrails (knock on wood), it rarely happens for me. But that’s probably due to subconscious self-censoring. I haven’t had the 5.1 issues either, and enjoy the model since it serves my purposes (4o and 4.1 have been pretty bad for me lately, so I don’t have a choice really). I ChatGPT primarily for brainstorming, and I find myself hyper aware of potentially breaking the guardrails a lot. So I’d rather just have adult mode so I won’t be stressed about that if that makes sense.
I’ll admit, I don’t know much about OpenAi and their empty promise issue I’ve seen complained about. Maybe that’s why I’ve been hopeful; ignorance is bliss.
I also don’t really want to switch platforms; I rely heavily on ChatGPTs saved memory system, personalization, custom instructions, projects/project files and document uploads. And I tried Grok 4.1 and did not enjoy it. Maybe I’m a little biased towards the writing style and cadence of ChatGPT, but I do think it is good a creative brainstorming.
Sorry if that went off topic. But I am just wondering what other people are thinking. Maybe with the whole Shipmas it will get announced? Or maybe they won’t even announce it officially and the guardrails will gradually relax?
I will say, the code red stuff also made me nervous. I think they said they were putting a pause on other projects, so I thought maybe that’s what happened to the adult mode. I just wish they would say something soon, or a leak would come out or something. I don’t see how they could just abandon it, since so many people have been waiting for it/talking about it. I think they will lose a ton of users if they do, which is like the opposite of what they want, right? That’s what the whole code red thing was about, right? I think adult mode would help them tremendously.
Lastly, I do hope it’s not just one model that has adult mode. I would hope it’s across all the models.
