The latest Windows 11 update introduces helpful features and resolves several bugs for improved functionality.
This update includes a “Personalized offers” section in the out-of-box experience (OOBE). You can manage this in Settings > Privacy & Security, where you can choose to turn off data sharing to improve Windows.
The system tray will show a shorter date and time, but if you prefer the full format, just go to Settings > Date & Time and turn off the option for the abbreviated version. Additionally, if you don’t see the notification bell icon due to “Do not disturb” mode, you can bring it back by going to Settings > System > Notifications.
The Input Method Editor (IME) toolbar will now hide automatically when apps are in full-screen mode, but only if you’re typing in Chinese or Japanese.
When you right-click apps pinned to the Start menu, jump lists will appear for those that support them.
Now you can share files directly to Android devices from the context menu in File Explorer, but you’ll need to set up Phone Link for it to work. A couple of bugs were also fixed, including the spacing issue in the left pane and the search box cutting off when the window is small.
A new option in Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Touch lets you disable touchscreen edge gestures on the left or right side of the screen, depending on your preference.
There’s now an option to turn off enhanced mouse pointer precision in Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Mouse. You can also adjust the direction your mouse scrolls.
The Dynamic Lighting settings page will show a placeholder if no compatible device is connected. Also, the Wave effect now offers more direction options, and the Gradient effect adds a new “Forward” direction.
If you hold down Shift + CTRL while clicking a jump list item, it will open with administrator privileges.
Some devices, like hearing aids, should now properly stream Bluetooth audio.
Fixed an issue where your mouse would unlock from the game window when using multiple monitors and opening or closing the Game Bar.
Windows Search now runs IFilters in Less Privileged App Containers (LPAC), which helps protect your system by limiting the access that apps have to sensitive data.
If you replace your motherboard, Windows should now activate properly. Additionally, there’s a fix for Windows freezing when using an Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) USB printer. Mobile operator profiles have also been updated.
