Ending of Whiplash Brief Analysis

First and foremost, this may be one of my favorite movies of all time, & I think the ending is truly perfection. I just completed a rewatch, & took to reddit to read what other’s thought about the end. I’m curious what you guys think, I read how some people saw Fletcher as being the obvious “winner” at the end and the final bout, not being heroic for Neiman. I can understand this perspective, but this was not at all how I saw it. I really took it as Fletcher knew Andrew got him fired & used the JVC as an opportunity to dismantle and crush his career. I think when Andrew initially walked off stage that is what Fletcher expected would happen, & when he came back out he was genuinely shocked. The ending to me is Andrew becoming Charlie Parker becoming Bird & establishing his greatness. I think by the end it’s a huge win for Andrew, Fletcher, & I think his father understood the level of greatness his son was capable of. Curious on other’s thoughts as well. Such an amazing movie & always worth the rewatch..
