Epic Games blames Samsung’s Auto Blocker for causing many people to quit downloading Fortnite on mobiles halfway through.
Back in 2020, Epic Games launched a lawsuit against Google and Apple for suddenly removing Fortnite from their stores because Epic introduced its own in-app payment system. Epic later won this lawsuit in December 2023, when the jury decided that Google was operating a monopoly.
Now Epic is Suing Samsung for allegedly making Fortnite too difficult to download on its phones. Epic Games said it would file a legal complaint on Monday. In it, Epic claimed that Fortnite takes 21 steps to install on the latest Samsung phones, which causes 50% of people to quit halfway through. Samsung has vigorously denied these allegations and will contest them with full force.
According to Epic, the fault lies in the Auto Blocker feature in Samsung phones. Auto Blocker is designed to block malicious activity and installations from unauthorized sources. Epic says that this goes against competition laws. Samsung contests these claims by saying that users can turn off Auto Blocker whenever they choose. However, that is a bit difficult as you don’t get any specific instructions on how to disable it…
